An average pack in the state costs $6.11, while the tobacco use rate is 16.6%. On average, federal and state excise taxes account for 44.3% of the retail price of cigarettes. Americans who smoke two packs a week, therefore, spend about $668 a year. Pipes/Tobacco Oklahoma also has a high cigarette use rate of 18.9%. Yet for many smokers, cigarettes are an addiction they will buy regardless of price- and depending on where they live price can vary dramatically. The total amount of smokeless tobacco sold by manufacturers to wholesalers and retailers in the United States was about 128.41 million pounds in 2018, a decrease from 130.91 million pounds sold in 2017.
